The ultimate morning routine for success

To create the levels of personal, professional, and financial success you desire, you must first dedicate time each day to becoming the person you need to be, one who is qualified and capable of consistently attracting, creating, and sustaining the levels of success you want.

How you wake up each day and your morning routine (or lack of) dramatically affects your levels of success in every single area of your life.

In this blog post, Alchemist’s Forum Chair Alan Branagh gives a little insight into his morning routine and suggests how you can set your self up for success as soon as you open your eyes each morning.

1.      Set Your Intentions Before Bed

The work on setting you up for a successful day begins before you close your eyes each night.

“Creating genuine excitement for the next morning every night before bed will allow you to wake up with a desire to kick-start your day on a positive note. There will be no more snoozing that alarm…or at least this will make the snoozing of the alarm less appealing.” Alan explains.

2.      Begin each morning in silence

Start every morning with a period of purposeful Silence of at least 5 minutes.

Alan says, ‘Spending a short time each morning in purposeful silence will allow you to awaken your mind and still your thoughts.”

3.      Meditations and Affirmations

Use affirmations or a meditation to start programming yourself to be confident and successful in everything you do. With enough repetition, your subconscious mind will begin to believe what you tell it, act upon it, and eventually manifest it in your reality.

Alan explains how he uses his morning mantra, “Each morning I begin by reciting a positive morning mantra to myself. It might sound a little crazy, I know, but it has a profound affect on my mood first thing in the morning and reaffirms my intentions, desires and beliefs.”

4.      Movement

Morning movement should be a staple in your daily rituals. When you move your body for even a few minutes every morning it significantly boosts your energy, enhances your health, improves self-confidence and emotional well-being, and enables you to think better and concentrate longer.

Alan says, “I begin each morning by completing a series of 60 press ups, mixed with stretching and balancing on my Indo Board which has been proven to lessen the likelihood of developing Dementia in later life. I will complete this routine 3 times each morning to get my body moving as it has great mental and physical health benefits.”

5.      Reading

Reading is one of the most immediate methods for acquiring the knowledge, ideas, and strategies you need to achieve Level 10 success in any area of your life.

Alan adds, “To be a truly transformational leader you must educate yourself and the best way to do this is through books – either physical or audio. Audible is a great resource for busy people as you can jump into the car and play an audio book rather than the radio. The true affects of reading can be completely transformational. The key is to learn from the experts—those who have already done what you want to do. The fastest way to achieve everything you want is to model successful people who have already achieved it. I aim for at least one audio book per week.”

6.      Writing/Scribing

Writing enables you to document your insights, ideas, breakthroughs, realisations, successes, and lessons learned, as well as any areas of opportunity, personal growth, or improvement.

Alan says, “Writing down your thoughts is a great way to clear your mind and seek clarity on areas of your life, whether that is work or personal. Spending just 5 minutes per day either first thing in the morning or before you close your eyes each night; can really help you gain mental clarity.”

7.      Laughter, it’s no joke!

As humans, it is not in our nature to always feel upbeat and in top form. Alan explains how laughter really is, the best medicine.

“When it comes to relieving stress, laughing is exactly what the doctor ordered. A good sense of humour can't cure all ill health, but research shows that a good laugh has great short and long-term effects. When you start to laugh, it doesn't just lighten your load mentally, it actually induces physical changes in your body.”

Research has shown that laughter can stimulate organs by enhancing your intake of oxygen and increasing the endorphins that are released by your brain. It can also activate and relieve your stress response as well as soothing tension.

Laughter can also stimulate circulation and aid muscle relaxation, both of which can help reduce some of the physical symptoms of stress. Longer term, laughter can improve your immune system, relieve pain, and improve your overall mood.

Let me guess, you don’t have the time to do all of these things, right?

Wrong! Try this 7-minute morning routine for busy people – we all have 7 minutes to spare.

  1. Sit quietly in purposeful silence for 60 seconds

  2. Read your meditation/affirmations aloud once

  3. Visualize what a successful day looks and feels like for you

  4. Write down some of the things that you’re grateful for, what you’re proud of, and the results you’re committed to creating for that day

  5. Listen to or read a self-development book for 1 minute – or longer if you can play it on your morning commute

  6. Move your body with intention for 1 minute

  7. Smile, let out a laugh, even if it feels unnatural.
