The Alchemists
Alan Branagh

Alan creates the private space in which leaders can hear their own thinking.

Challenge the assumptions, form the decision and own what comes next. When the pressure is high, clarity, decision and action become everything.

Alan Branagh, founder of The Alchemists

I work with Founders, CEOs, Managing Directors and Business Owners of privately held companies at the point where what made you successful will not, on its own, take you forward, and the cost of getting the next move wrong feels heavier than ever.

Most leaders operate in constant performance mode. Always on. Always responding. No pause, no perspective, no distance from the noise. Over time clarity fades, confidence slips, and decisions become reactive rather than deliberate.

So the work is simple. We create an Executive Active Time Out: a private, trusted environment where you stop performing and start thinking, learning and deciding what comes next. Quietly. Privately. Without noise.

Clarity : Decision : Action

Where this comes from

Forty years where decisions carried real consequence.

  • Operational roles through to leading businesses across EMEA and APAC.
  • Global technology and telecoms environments, and high-growth entrepreneurial ventures.
  • Building and scaling teams, and board-level work on strategy, transformation and execution.
  • Over a decade in sell-side M&A, where timing, valuation and decision clarity determine the outcome.
  • Inside Beenz.com — one of the first digital currency businesses — which raised over $100M, scaled fast and failed just as visibly.
Why this matters

Experience that sharpens your judgement, never replaces it.

Experience matters when it helps reveal patterns, sharpen questions and improve the quality of your thinking. It should not replace your judgement or take ownership of the decision away from you.

Alan brings more than forty years of experience from inside businesses where performance, people and decisions carried real consequence. That experience allows him to recognise what may be happening beneath the visible issue while remaining unattached to what your answer should be.

His role is to create the private, independent environment in which you and your people can understand more clearly, form the decisions you trust and own what happens next.

Alongside the commercial life sits a long study of performance psychology and the Inner Game: the observation that performance rises when interference falls. Noise, assumption, fear and unclear ownership are interference. Removing them is most of the work.

The approach is non-directive. Empathy without attachment matters because attachment to a particular answer quietly narrows the thinking of the person who has to live with it. The leader must own the decision.

He is an accredited LEGO® Serious Play® facilitator, one example of his ability to make complex thinking visible.
